• Fixed issue with crashing on startup

Now that online meetings have become the norm in many workplaces, people are looking for better and easier ways to manage them. Chat apps and macOS don't always play well together, so they might not have handy features like menu bar integration, notifications, or hotkeys.

MeetingBar is an app for Zoom and Google Meet users that aims to simplify event management and help you keep track of every meeting directly from your menu bar. It even allows you to create and join events with simple keyboard shortcuts.

Monitor upcoming meetings from the menu bar

If you're working from home, it's surprisingly easy to forget about meetings, since you don't actually have to prepare to go anywhere beforehand. An event title in the menu bar is hard to miss, and it's better than a notification 5 minutes before the meeting is due to begin.

If you're not a fan, though, the event title can be turned off, which means you'll have to click the app's menu bar icon to see when the next meeting is scheduled. Any additional information associated with the event is also available from this menu.

Easily join and create Google Meet or Zoom meetings

When a meeting is coming up, you can join it directly from the menu bar or with a hotkey you have configured beforehand. If you prefer, you can force the app to use Chrome for all Google Meet links.

To create a new meeting that hadn't been planned beforehand, you can use another shortcut, which you need to set up as well. Mind you, you have to specify whether the app should use Zoom or Google Meet for events beforehand, which might not be ideal if you use both apps.

Does the job, and it's open-source

MeetingBar is very much a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of deal. It works great, it's very simple to configure, and it doesn't come with any unnecessary bloat. And to top it off, not only is it completely free, it's fully open-source as well.
